goodbye blue sky by DimensionSeven goodbye blue sky by DimensionSeven
An older minimalistic abstract piece, after fooling around in PS-CS.
It was taken on a day with extremely clear sky, it was totally empty for 3 days then. Strange.

---
Photoshop CS: tones and contrast adjusted, gradient added, straightened - Noise Ninja - frame, type.

EDIT 2005.09.11. PRINT AVALIABLE! :buymyprints:
I also changed the deviation image to match the print version exactly.

Nice. I actually put a video together of some of my artwork set to the music of "Goodbye Blue Sky" by Pink Floyd. If you want, check it out: [link]

Karlsson should be on that roof, then it would be awsome :) Now it is little empty, plain but I still like the concept and colours (but it could be better with Karlsson ^-^ )

The sky looks great, it looks like a gradient. The roof seems a little blurry to me though. Maybe it's just me.

I didn't use unsharp mask on the resized picture as usual. That's why it's not as sharp.

Great work with the gradient of the sky and very good chosen position of the roof. The chimney (?) keeps this one far away from beeing boring - cannot find some critiques ;-)

Great to hear such a positive feedback! I wasn't sure about this one. And it was the first time I used the gradient tool and the curves.
I'll probably keep it then. ;)

I like it !
The blue of the sky could be more saturated.
Nice shot anyway.
Reply
:icondimensionseven:
DimensionSeven Featured By Owner Apr 8, 2005
Well, not exactly... It was desaturated, gradient was added and curves were adjusted this way on purpose. It's supposed to look creepy and threatening while keeping the sunlight in the foreground. However, I'm not quite satisfied with the result.

I think I see what you want with your answer. I don't know exactly what to propose.
The problem is maybe that even if it is -as you said- a "minimalistic abstract piece", it is too empty and smooth. I mean there is no real 'harshness' that could catch the eye.
Keep it up ! :-)
