Something that really caught my eye? The title! It's a perfect title for this image. It really does look sort of like a brain, especially with its sepia coloration.
For that reason I've started to look at this picture in a very "biological" light. If the artist doesn't share my views on that imagery, I apologize in advance.
Absolutely gorgeous is the way the trees all converge on the center. The diagonal shapes of the trees - I always seem to pick on this in comments and critiques - create a sense of movement and give the impression the viewer is heading through a tunnel, or that the trees are moving, growing upward, or perhaps, in reference to the title, that they are nerves building connections to each other.
Bare the trees may be, which would usually symbolize an absence of life, but their nerve, vessel, or other bodily tissue-like appearance is aided by this lack of leaves instead, and therefore, the whole image itself looks alive.
The sense of life in the picture is also aided by the brightness at the center of the picture as opposed to the darkness around the edges - the brightness gives us a sense of activity.
As far as picky points, there are a couple things I've noticed. The main one is that there are a few dark black globs of leaves in the upper center of the image, which are kind of distracting. I also see that one of the trees still has its leaves - this isn't as much of an issue as are the few lone globs, and they're not really possible to change either. Of course, if you continue with the biological imagery, all sorts of weird things can appear in the body. Also, an even smaller issue - maybe the darkness of the edges should go further into the picture, so that the brightness of the center is even more exaggerated.

All in all, wonderful and eye-catching.
