2008.10.07, Lake Deseda, near Kaposvár, Hungary

I was trying to finalize my remeining 3 new calendars and was looking for some autumn shots, so I came across this one in my archive and a few more from last year. I really should shoot less and PP more as I have so many untouched shots it's really annoying... :XD:

Anyways, this was shot while literally hanging from a bridge, to get some decent angle. One of my colleges saw me from a bus on her way home and said the next day that half of the bus was shocked to see me there... :D

The weird contrast situation comes from interaction between the lighting (from camera right) and the polarizer. The air was so clear that the moon was already visible! :wow:

Nikon D80 - 18-70 - f/7,1 - 1/30 - iso 100 - Soligor CPL - Cokin P120 - NEF - Capture NX 1.2 - PS/CS2.

Print available! :buymyprints:

Wow, how did you get the water so clean? Looks like a mirror ...

Lol, no wind is the trick. ;)

But even when there's no wind, how did you get the water to be such a clear mirror? I mean, water's always like a mirror, but that's extraordinary...

You need to be lucky with the wind. The less windy weather is, the clearer the reflection is, because the waves don't scatter the light around.

Ok, thank you :) what did the polarization-filter do in this one? I always thought they would reduce the reflections, for example in car windows.

Looks like you've never used one. ;)
It does magic to skies, esp. in clear, haze-free days. Just try!

Nope, they're too expensive :(

Look for the Soligor brand, they are Marumi filters in disguise, great quality and low price.
